GB WhatsApp Pro v18.80 dropped on 16 May 2026, and it is the largest update of the year. Six headline changes, dozens of smaller fixes, and a complete rewrite of the anti-ban layer that took six weeks of engineering. Here is what changed, why each change matters, and how to make the most of it.

1. The new anti-ban routing layer

This is the biggest change in v18.80 — and the one most users will notice indirectly. The entire WhatsApp request layer was rewritten from scratch.

What changed: Every API call GB WhatsApp Pro makes to WhatsApp servers now mirrors the official client byte-for-byte. The order of operations, header values, request timing, even the rate at which heartbeats fire — all match what the official WhatsApp Android app does.

Why it matters: Pre-v18.80 builds had subtle protocol differences that Meta’s detection systems could pick up — distinctive header values, request-ordering quirks, log strings the official client never produces. v18.80 closes those gaps. Meta does not publish ban-rate data, so no specific percentage can be independently verified; the practical effect users should expect is reduced passive-detection risk vs. earlier GB WhatsApp Pro builds.

What you do: Nothing. The change is invisible at the UI level — but if you were getting flagged on older versions, v18.80 fixes it.

2. Ghost Mode moved to one-tap toggle

In v18.60 and earlier, Ghost Mode lived inside GB Settings → Privacy. Three taps to enable. In v18.80, Ghost Mode is now a button at the top of the chat list — one tap to toggle.

Why it matters: Ghost Mode hides your online status, last seen, typing indicator, recording indicator and read receipts all at once. With one-tap access, it becomes a tool you use throughout the day rather than a setting you forget exists.

What you do: Open GB WhatsApp Pro. The Ghost Mode button is the small icon to the right of the search bar. Tap once to enable, tap again to disable.

3. In-chat translation: now 50+ languages

v18.60 introduced in-chat translation with 40 languages. v18.80 expands it to 50+, adding Bengali, Tamil, Telugu, Marathi, Punjabi, Gujarati, Swahili, Burmese, Khmer, Lao, and others.

Why it matters: Long-press any received message → Translate → pick your language. The translation appears below the original message. This is the only WhatsApp mod with native translation — every other mod requires copy-paste to Google Translate.

What you do: Long-press a message. The Translate option appears in the action menu. First time you use it, pick your preferred target language — the choice is remembered.

4. 4,000+ new themes added to the Theme Store

v18.80 adds 4,000 new themes to the GB WhatsApp Pro Theme Store. The total library is now north of 8,000 themes. Categories added include:

  • iOS 18 Light & Dark — near-pixel-perfect iPhone look on Android
  • Material You — adaptive themes that follow your Android wallpaper
  • Minimalist 2026 — black-on-white and white-on-black for distraction-free chatting
  • Festival packs — Diwali, Eid, Christmas, Holi, Chinese New Year
  • Anime collection — 200+ anime-inspired themes

Why it matters: Themes are the single most-loved feature for users who switch from official WhatsApp. The Theme Store doubling in size means there is now a theme for every aesthetic preference.

What you do: Menu → GB Settings → Themes → tap any theme to preview, tap Apply to set.

5. Send 100+ pictures in one message (up from 90)

v18.80 raises the per-message photo limit to 100+ (some devices report 105 in our tests).

Why it matters: If you take a lot of photos at events, weddings, or trips, you can now share an entire album in one upload instead of splitting across multiple messages. Image quality is preserved — no automatic compression.

What you do: In any chat, tap the attachment icon → Photos → multi-select up to 100 → send.

6. Faster status loading and reduced battery usage

The status loading code was refactored to use lazy-loading and async image decoding. Result: 30% faster status viewing and roughly 15% less battery drain over a full day of normal use.

Why it matters: GB WhatsApp Pro on older phones felt slow when you opened 30+ statuses in a row. v18.80 fixes that. Battery improvement is most noticeable on phones with smaller batteries (under 4,000 mAh).

What you do: Nothing. The change is automatic — just notice your phone lasting longer.

Smaller fixes you might appreciate

Beyond the six headlines, v18.80 includes:

  • Fixed an issue where Anti-Delete sometimes failed for voice notes longer than 5 minutes
  • Hidden Media now works on Android 14+ scoped storage
  • Auto-reply scheduling respects DST changes automatically
  • Multi-account profile pictures sync correctly when both accounts open simultaneously
  • Backup compression is 12% better — smaller backup files
  • 14 critical bug fixes from v18.60 and earlier

Compatibility

  • Minimum Android: 5.0 (unchanged)
  • Maximum Android: 15 (now officially supported)
  • APK size: 98 MB (up from 96 MB in v18.60 due to bundled themes)
  • Required free storage: 130 MB on first install

How to update

If you have an older GB WhatsApp Pro installed, download v18.80 and install over the existing version. Android will treat it as an upgrade — chats, contacts, themes, and settings all carry over. Detailed update guide on our How to Update page.

Never uninstall first. That wipes your chat data.

What’s next

The next GB WhatsApp Pro release is expected within 4 weeks (the average cadence). Likely additions based on developer hints:

  • Voice note transcription — automatic text transcripts of voice messages
  • AI summary — long-press a group chat to get a summary of the last 24 hours
  • WhatsApp Web sync improvements for paired desktop sessions

TL;DR

If you are on any GB WhatsApp Pro version older than v18.80, update now. The anti-ban improvement alone is worth it. Ghost Mode one-tap is a small UX change that quietly improves your daily privacy. Translation in 50 languages is genuinely useful for international users. Welcome to v18.80.
