How to Disable Google Play Protect to Install GB WhatsApp Pro

Google Play Protect sometimes flags third-party APKs like GB WhatsApp Pro as "harmful". The warning is a false positive — our APKs are virus-scanned across 70+ engines before publishing — but you may need to disable Play Protect or whitelist GB WhatsApp Pro to complete the install. Here is the safe way to do it.

2 minutes 5 steps

What you need

  • Android phone with Google Play Services
  • The GB WhatsApp Pro APK already downloaded

Tools you'll use

  • Google Play Store app

The steps

5-step walkthrough

  1. Open the Google Play Store

Launch the Play Store app on your Android phone. You do not need to sign in for this step.

  2. Open Play Protect settings

Tap your profile icon (top right) → "Play Protect" → tap the gear icon (settings) in the top-right corner of the Play Protect screen.

  3. Disable "Scan apps with Play Protect"

Toggle off "Scan apps with Play Protect". Android shows a confirmation dialog — confirm. You can re-enable this later if you want general protection back.

  4. Install GB WhatsApp Pro

Now return to your Downloads folder and tap the GB WhatsApp Pro APK. Install runs without the Play Protect warning.

  5. Re-enable Play Protect afterwards (recommended)

Once installation completes, return to the same Play Protect setting and toggle it back ON. Play Protect knows about installed apps already — it will not re-prompt for GB WhatsApp Pro after install.

Warning: Re-enable Play Protect after install. Leaving it permanently off removes a useful security layer for other apps you install from outside Play Store.
Tip: Alternative method: instead of disabling Play Protect, tap "Install Anyway" when the warning appears — this whitelists the specific APK without disabling the system-wide scan.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions

Why does Play Protect flag GB WhatsApp Pro?

Play Protect uses a signature database maintained by Google. Any APK not distributed through Play Store is flagged by default — including completely legitimate apps. The warning is a Play Protect policy, not malware detection.

Is it safe to disable Play Protect?

Yes, temporarily. Disable it for the install, then re-enable after. Play Protect provides useful protection against random APKs from unknown sources — keep it on for general use.

Can I use "Install Anyway" instead?

Yes. When the Play Protect warning appears, scroll down and tap "Install Anyway" or "Send and Install". This whitelists the specific APK without disabling system-wide protection.
