The official WhatsApp ships with two themes: light and dark. GB WhatsApp Pro ships with 8,000+ — and they completely transform the app. Bubble shapes, fonts, tick styles, status bar colours, launcher icons. Everything.

If you have just installed GB WhatsApp Pro and not opened the Theme Store yet, you are missing the headline feature most users switch for. Here is a tour.

How to open the Theme Store

Menu (three dots, top-right) → GB SettingsThemes. The Theme Store opens with a featured carousel at the top and a category list below. Tap any theme to preview it on a fake chat screen, tap Apply to set it as your active theme.

The Theme Store works offline — all 8,000+ themes ship inside the APK. No downloads, no extra data.

The 12 most-loved theme categories

1. iOS 18 Light & Dark

Near-pixel-perfect iPhone look. Bubble shapes match Apple’s design, the font is SF Pro, the status bar mimics iOS notifications. The closest you can get to “GB WhatsApp Pro on iPhone” — except it runs natively on Android.

Best for: Users who like the iPhone aesthetic but use Android.

2. Material You

Adaptive themes that pull colour from your Android wallpaper. Change your wallpaper, the theme automatically reskins to match. Built on the same Material 3 system Google uses across Android 13+.

Best for: Users who want a coherent system-wide aesthetic.

3. Minimalist 2026

Pure black-on-white and pure white-on-black. No accent colours, no gradients, no decorations. Designed for distraction-free chatting and battery savings on OLED screens.

Best for: Users who find the default WhatsApp UI too busy.

4. Festival packs

Diwali (gold + maroon), Eid (green + gold), Christmas (red + green), Holi (rainbow), Chinese New Year (red + gold), Halloween (orange + black). Auto-activated during the festival week if you enable seasonal mode.

Best for: Users who like temporary themed periods.

5. Anime collection

200+ anime-inspired themes. Naruto, One Piece, Demon Slayer, Attack on Titan, JJK, Spirited Away, and dozens more. Each theme uses character-specific colour palettes and themed tick styles.

Best for: Anime fans who want their chat app to match their other apps.

6. Material You Black

Pure AMOLED black backgrounds with vibrant accent colours. Saves 15–25% battery on OLED screens vs the default dark theme.

Best for: OLED phone users who care about battery life.

7. Monochrome

Single-colour palettes — all blue, all green, all purple, all red, all pink, all teal. Clean, restrained, professional. Good for work-focused phones.

Best for: Users on a business or work secondary number.

8. Retro 90s

CRT-inspired themes with phosphor-green text on dark backgrounds, pixel fonts, and chunky bubble shapes. Nostalgic in a good way.

Best for: Users who remember IRC.

9. Photography portfolio

Themes designed around famous photography styles — Wes Anderson pastel palettes, film-noir black-and-white, golden-hour warm tones. Subtle but striking.

Best for: Designers and photographers.

10. Geometric / abstract

Themes built around geometric patterns and abstract shapes. Heavy on visual interest in the chat background.

Best for: Users who want the chat to feel like a designed space.

11. Sports team colours

Football clubs (Real Madrid, Barcelona, Manchester United, Chelsea), cricket teams, F1 teams. Team-themed bubble colours and accent gradients.

Best for: Sports fans who want to represent.

12. User-created

Themes uploaded by other GB WhatsApp Pro users. The community curates the best ones. Quality varies more than the curated categories, but you can find genuinely creative themes here.

Best for: Users who want one-of-a-kind themes.

Customising beyond themes

Themes change the overall look. For finer control, GB WhatsApp Pro offers per-element customisation:

  • Fonts — 30+ font choices, including SF Pro, Roboto, Inter, Open Sans, monospace options
  • Tick styles — 15+ tick designs from hearts to stars to arrows to minimal lines
  • Bubble shapes — round, square, iOS-style pill, hexagonal
  • Launcher icon — disguise the app icon as a calculator, notes app, or weather app for extra privacy
  • Notification icons — change what shows in the status bar when a message arrives
  • Status bar colour — match the theme or pick your own

All accessible from Menu → GB Settings → Universal.

Building your own theme

If none of the 8,000+ themes fit your taste exactly, the Theme Creator lets you mix and match elements:

  1. Open GB Settings → Themes → tap “Create New” at the bottom
  2. Pick base colours (primary, secondary, background)
  3. Pick a font from the bundled options
  4. Pick bubble shape and tick style
  5. Preview, save, and apply

Saved themes appear in your “My Themes” section and can be exported as a .xml file to share with friends.

Performance impact

A common worry: do themes slow the app down? Answer: no. Themes are CSS-equivalent style overrides, applied at app launch. There is no measurable performance impact regardless of which theme you pick. Battery usage is also unchanged (except the AMOLED-optimised themes which save battery on OLED screens).

TL;DR

Open the Theme Store. Pick one of the 8,000+ themes that matches your aesthetic. Apply, restart, enjoy. If you are still using the default theme three weeks after installing GB WhatsApp Pro, you have missed the headline feature. The app is built around customisation — use it.
