Building your own theme
If none of the 8,000+ themes fit your taste exactly, the Theme Creator lets you mix and match elements:
- Open GB Settings → Themes → tap “Create New” at the bottom
- Pick base colours (primary, secondary, background)
- Pick a font from the bundled options
- Pick bubble shape and tick style
- Preview, save, and apply
Saved themes appear in your “My Themes” section and can be exported as a .xml file to share with friends.
Performance impact
A common worry: do themes slow the app down? Answer: no. Themes are CSS-equivalent style overrides, applied at app launch. There is no measurable performance impact regardless of which theme you pick. Battery usage is also unchanged (except the AMOLED-optimised themes which save battery on OLED screens).
